Hello, I'm Kristin
I am the designer and maker of SO U CUSTOM sandals and the founder of SANDAL SCHOOL. It is my mission to help women to pursue their creative dreams by learning a unique skill that enables them to start a profitable shoe business. One, that helps them create beautiful experiences for women in their local area and helps to preserve an ancient craft for our future generations.
Over a decade ago, shortly after my family moved from Germany to the Sunshine Coast in Australia, I embarked on an unforgettable journey to master the art of making sandals the Italian way - a craft that had captured my heart years earlier. Guided by a talented father and son duo of artisans in Italy, I immersed myself in learning and refining my skills. Over time, I had the privilege of creating countless pairs of bespoke sandals for my incredible customers and sharing the techniques in sandal making workshops.
One of my personal goals has always been to make this craft and our incredible footwear more accessible to women all over the world. So today I find great joy in mentoring aspiring sandal makers who dream of launching their own sandal lines. Together, we are weaving a global network of artisans, nurturing creativity and honouring ancient traditions to ensure the legacy of this craft for years to come.

I have worked in the fashion industry as a makeup artist for over 20 years and decided to change my career and become a sandal designer and maker.

My experience with Kristin and the Mentorship has been so good. I am about 2 months out of the Mentorship and feel so fulfilled. I feel like I am armed with so much information, so much inspiration, and ready to go out and create my own sandal brand. I am confident that I have learned this age-old skill and can make a profitable business out of it. My sandal journey started 5 years ago after I had my second son. I had a dream to create my own sandal brand, but did not find much information online, nothing that brought me to a process that brought me to a finished product that looked well made.
When I found Kristin on Instagram, I immediately knew that I wanted to learn how to do what she does. Not only did the process look fairly simple, but the finished product just looked so beautiful.
